Membership

Our sense of belonging to a church family comes from our decision to make a heart investment.  This decision leads us to connect with the life of the Church, and to find ways to serve with its mission. Throughout the New Testament, believers identified themselves with a specific local body. That became the community which facilitated their growth as a follower of Jesus and their support of each other in mission.

We believe membership strengthens that sense of belonging and helps us to find that stable centre for growth and service. Your decision to become a member signals to the Gateway family your desire to belong and to contribute. In this way, Membership benefits both the Church and you as an individual.

If you have received Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Saviour, been baptised by full immersion as an adult and are in agreement with Gateway Baptist Church's mission, vision and values, we invite you to become a member of Gateway Baptist Church.

As a member, you commit to this local church family and by God's grace, support the Pastoral Team and church leadership by keeping the following commitment:

LOVE GOD

· To regularly spend time reading God's Word and in prayer to develop a growing relationship with God

· To express love and worship to God through participating in Sunday services at Gateway

LOVE PEOPLE

· Love, care and pray for those in your life group as you experience life together with Jesus

· Love and pray for the people you live, work and laugh with that don't know Jesus and invite them to a Gateway service, event or ministry

LIVE FOR JESUS

· Use your spiritual gifts, time and abilities to serve in a Gateway ministry

· Give generously, proportionately and sacrificially of your finances to see God's vision for Gateway become reality

A person may be invited into, or request membership at any time.

New members are acknowledged and welcomed on special Sundays set aside four times each year.

NB: This commitment is a guide. We recognize that there are seasons of life when it is not possible to be as involved as we may wish to be.
