At the Gateway Counselling & Wholeness Centre we are passionate about doing the journey of life together.  We understand that sometimes that journey will include challenges and we seek to provide a safe place in which anyone in our community can come and gain counselling support to help them on their way. We are committed to assisting people as they seek growth, healing and transformation. Our counselling team consists of a number of highly skilled, experienced and accredited practitioners who are able to assist our clients in working through their life issues in a safe and supportive environment. We offer a broad range of counselling services to individuals, couples, and families. While our staff and counsellors are committed Christians, we respect the diversity of beliefs, views and practices within our community and offer counselling services that reflects the uniqueness of each person’s life situation. We are committed to offering all our clients the highest quality of counselling care to meet their needs.

We Aim:

To offer a range of professional counselling services and supports in a caring manner to those in the community who are facing personal or relational challenges, trauma, grief, distress or isolation.

To encourage and empower people in their individual circumstances and to offer a supportive and respectful environment to discover issues of importance to our clients. It is our desire to support and equip people to overcome obstacles and to move forward in life in their chosen direction.

To support people in building and maintaining effective relationships and families.

How the service works: Counselling services are offered by appointment only.  Appointments can be made by phone or email. We try to see people as soon as possible but sometimes a waiting period is necessary.  If your situation is urgent please notify our office assistant when making your appointment. Payment is to be made at the time of consultation which is a flat fee of $50.  There is a concession for Health Care Card holders.  A cancellation fee will be charged if less than 24 hours notice of appointment cancellation is given by the client.

Confidentiality and Ethics:

We are committed to providing our clients with the highest level of care.  As such our counsellors have undertaken university degrees and/or post graduate education in the fields of counselling, psychology and social work and are registered members with the appropriate peak bodies and member associations for their discipline. Each therapist is bound by a code of ethics prescribed by their particular professional body eg: ACA, QCA & CCAA [PACFA affiliated], APS, AASW. This ensures each therapist has ongoing professional supervision and training.

Your confidentiality and privacy is important to us and assured. However, there are limits to confidentiality if you have indicated harm to yourself or others; are suspected of child abuse or neglect or of committing a criminal act. As such we are obliged ethically to seek advice and report to the appropriate statutory bodies as required in these instances.
