Several key governance groups exist at Gateway to provide leadership, oversight and encouragement. These groups seek to empower the church to maximise the effectiveness of its ministry and mission.
Board of Elders
The purpose of the Board of Elders is to discern God's purpose and direction for our church, orienting the church's structure and mission accordingly. The Board of Elders provides leadership and oversight by approving the key focus and goals of the church, monitoring outcomes and providing nurture, encouragement and support to resource and ministry teams.
The Board of Elders serves a governance role, not a management role. They are responsible to ensure that an environment exists for the church to flourish in its mission. The operations and administration of Gateway are managed by the Senior Pastor and ministry team.
Up to seven elected members of the congregation serve on the Board of Elders, alongside the Senior Pastor and the Executive Pastor.
Resource Groups
Several resource groups exist to support the Board of Elders and the work of staff and ministry groups. The Resource Groups help develop and monitor key objectives and vital signs at Gateway and report to the Board of Elders. They define and implement policies and processes making recommendations to the Board of Elders. These groups also provide a supportive resource, with particular expertise, to support staff and ministry groups.
Pastoral Team
The Pastoral Team are the ones responsible for the day to day facilitation of ministry at the church, and for overseeing the outworking of our mission, vision and values. This team is accountable to the Board of Elders through the Senior Pastor and Executive Pastor. |
